The intestine is lined primarily by simple columnar epithelium, a single layer of tall cells. They are nonciliated here since there are solids at the apical end of the cells. Scattered between the tall cells will be goblet cells making mucous (since this is a mucous membrane). Smooth muscle layers make up the wall so food can be moved involuntarily. This is not the answer that I was looking for, however! Lets return to the original question.
