Kidney tubules are fine ducts that fill most of the volume of each kidney. They function to adjust the volume of water left in the urine (by reabsorbing excess water into the blood) and to route the urine into the center of each kidney (called the renal pelvis). They are lined by simple cuboidal epithelium. This is not the answer that I was looking for, however! Lets return to the original question.
