Uploading files to Delta's web server.

If you have created a web page, it resides on your diskette or hard disk. In order to access it on the Internet, it needs to be on the Delta College web server in an area that has been reserved for you (created during the signup process). Click here if you need an "alpha" account to access your e-mail and personal webpages- composed of your username and password.

To upload, you will use FTP, File Transfer Protocol (a set of instructions designed to transfer a set of files from one computer to another). For instructions on how to download a free copy of WS_FTP click here.

The WS_FTP application starts with the following window:

The small "Session Properties" window in front allows you to tell WS_FTP which computer you want to connect to ans who you are. The profile name needs to be filled in as Alpha The computer you are connecting to needs to filled in as alpha.delta(the Host Name/Address) but WS_FTP does not know who you are-fill in the User ID with your Delta College username and supply your Password that you acquried during the signup process. You may leave the Account and Comment fields blank. Do not click on the boxes called: "Anonymous" and "Save Pwd." Click on [OK].
