Title:
Modeling in the Pathways
|
Abstract:
AMATYC is planning the next sequel in the Crossroads series on standards for mathematics
in the first two years of college. The MAA, through its Common Vision project, is
considering changes to the undergraduate mathematics curriculum. Other publications
have called for the modernization of the undergraduate mathematics curriculum.
Mathematical modeling is a topic identified as needing increased attention in all of
these national reports. Several modeling problems included in courses in the first
two years of college, particularly in the non-STEM pathway, will be shared.
